SHOTGUNGIRL [10/08/09 3:21:49 pm]HI,
This is my first thread so not quite sure how to do this but I would just like to get everyones genral opinion on Adam and how hes promoted in the industry.
Me personally I found for a guy thats been out there for this long should be more known then what Adam is. I mean in HMV I cant even get some of his CDs (and thats with trying to special order them). The only reason I had ever heard of him was thanks to Cisn Country Radio station in Edmonton, and it wasnt until I saw him in concert at Ed Fest (Capital Ex) that I whent out to get his latest Cd. I have several friends across America that have never even heard of him until I started to share videos from youtube with them. I find all this rather odd considering he opend shows for such big American names such as Alan Jackson and Lonestar not to mention how much other Canadian artist are promoted here in Canada while Adam seems to be only really known in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
I would just like to get your guys views on this matter, and see if you agree or disagree with the way Adams being put out there.
And I would like to add I was very shocked and happy to see Adam in Peoples Magazine Country Special.
So just let me know how ya guys feel. :)
What issue of People Magazine did you see him in? I know you said it's a country special issue but is it still on newsstands?
SHOTGUNGIRL [10/12/09 1:02:54 pm]No its no longer on news stands I got it in August. But the point is there was nothing about him, just a picture of those who did the charity softball game.
And again Im just trying to get everyones view on how hes promoted. Yes its great he was in Peoples Magazine but dont you guys think with Crazy Days being promoted on both sides of the border that he should be getting little article in Country Weekly or maybe a nomination (not saying he has to win, though that be nice) at the CCMA or even CMA? I just think for man thats worked as hard as he has for so many years, should be getting some credit.
Let me guys now your opinions :)
CHUCKWICKFAN [10/12/09 3:47:57 pm]I agree that Adam doesnt get the credit he deserves. We are all hoping starting at the beginning of the year he will start touring again and start getting noticed more than he is because he is so good at Country Music or anything he decides to do and if he does this we need to all help push him forward.I think alot of great artist get overlooked like Adam and its such a shame that great talent is being ecnored.
CHADME [10/12/09 4:19:14 pm]Hi all, it's Chad from Adam's band and I have to agree on all the points you have made. The last 6 months have been tough and even tougher when you see artists on both sides of the border passing Adam in popularity and exposure. We are hopeful to be back out in the new year and getting back at it. I have no word on when this is happening but I hold on to the thought that Adam is too talented and genuine to not have success. I have been with him along time and I have faith that with patience and determination we will get where we want to be. The best thing you the fan can do is spread the word and request songs. Use the internet to show people what Adam does, really the internet is the most powerful tool these days. Thanks for caring and posting an important fact that needs to have some light shed on it!!!!! Take Care and hope to see you all real soon!!!
Ciao!
Chad Melchert-AG Band.
SHOTGUNGIRL [10/12/09 9:19:58 pm]Sorry Im bad with names are you the base player (if so met you at big and rich concert I asked for your picture) or are you the brad paisley look alike (If so ran into you at london drugs in West Ed Mall). Sorry only way i could describe it, to refresh my memory.
Anyway,
I agree with you guys. Touring is one of the top ways to get known today, but can I ask a question, Adam didnt look like he did alot of touring this summer, and summer is probably the best time to tour. So was wondering why that was? I was lucky enough to see him twice though, once at Ed Fest when he opend for Emerson Drive (blonde front row to the right, stage left) and Darwell Barn Burner were I also got to meet him (was front row, and then met him after his set).
But deffinatly think Adam needs to tour more, and i hope he does, not just across Canada but need to get known in the States. Another problem I see is, even being right here in Edmonton, I cant get his first 2 cds. If his cds arent out there, on either side of the border, he cant get known. HMV says there shipments have been discontinued for Adams older cds. To get out there he has to put himself out there, one by making these avalibal. I try and tell those who have similar interest in music about Adams music but for them to really get into it, they have to be able to get his cds. I have friends in the US that cant get his cds at all, not even Crazy Days and had never even heard of Adam till talking to me. And myself being an Edmontonian never really knew who he was except for the few songs on Cisn Country.
Again,
Hope to hear your feed back on all this. :)

SHOTGUNGIRL [10/12/09 10:05:31 pm]Sorry, for somereason it posted that three times, no clue why or how
CHADME [10/12/09 11:46:15 pm]I am the drummer, so I am neither the bass player nor the brad paisley look alike. We have been regrouping for the summer months and hoping to get back at it in the new year. You were fortunate compared to many of Adam's US fans who haven't seen Adam or the band in quite awhile. Thanks for coming to both shows and spreading the word on Adam we appreciate it!!! The older cd's were under Sony music and that label is no more so getting those cd's is tough and if we can track them down they are very expensive so that's the case for that. The new cd was only released in Canada and can be purchased online and was never released in the US so that's the only option for those in the US. I don't have alot of answers for alot of questions but hopefully I answered what you were wondering. We will be back so keep an eye out for us and hope to see you at another show!!
Take Care.
Chad.
SHOTGUNGIRL [10/13/09 1:22:16 am]Sorry bout the mess up, i feel bad. I just really suck at remembering names. Sorry.
And yes you did answer my questions.
I, for some reason, was sure the new one had been released in the States. No offence to you, but i really wish Canadian artist released all cds in the states as well for it be good promotion for themselves and they could be more reconized for there work.
Thanks for actually responding. Think its pretty great that bandmember actually look and respond to what the fans are talking about, and offer answers to what they can.
CHUCKWICKFAN [10/13/09 2:21:21 pm]You are so right Chad.We miss you all really bad here in the states and want you all to come back asap.I am promoting Adam as you know and calling every venue I know so If you all get some calls please say yes.lol.To answer Shotgungirl.Im in the states and I ordered Adams cd from Canada and its a shame its not here.Adam isnt getting the reconition he so deserves here.Aam and his band and music I think are so much better than some out there and its a shame hes not pushed more so I and you as fans can help by promoting and requested as Chad said and by the way thanks Chad for thinking about us here in the states and we miss you all alot here.Hope we get some shows here really soon and I will continue to push Adams music.
TEXASJACKIE [10/15/09 12:47:39 pm]I've been lucky enough to see Adam several times over the last year or so. I actually flew from Texas to KC in August, just to see Adam. Even though I lived in Alaska for eight years prior to moving back to Texas, I had never heard of Adam. It wasn't until I attended a Gary Allan concert in Austin, that I learned about Adam. I was totally blown away by his talent and what a genuinely nice guy Adam is to his fans. I don't want to place blame on anyone, but I think this falls back to his previous record label and his manager. When Adam was with Big Machine Reords, Taylor Swift was their big ticket performer. He needs to find someone that truly believes in his talent and is willing to go to bat for him. I think anyone that gets a chance to meet DLO and Adam, will definitely be able to see how talented they really are. It's not a question of talent, but rather exposure. I'm not sure being Canadian (not a bad thing), plays any part in this or not. There are a lot of new performers out there, but not many as talented as Adam. I personally think, he needs to book more shows and get his name out there. People will definitely take notice.
I've been able to order every one of Adams records off of Amazon or import them directly from Canada. Everyone that hears him, can't believe he's not signed in the US. I think it's just a matter of time and someone will standup and take notice.
KNICKMONITORS [10/22/09 12:35:48 am]I just have to say that everyone who has posted on this forum is awesome, and is the best fans that an artist could have.
You guys rock blocks and it is cool to see that you are all behind Adam and the band.
Take Care
Nick.
KLYETTE [11/03/09 12:42:37 am]... sooooo Ditto!
what iv done about a few hundred times is wrote to CMT & GAC about AG & DLO...iv never gotten a response once though?? i think thats odd in itself?
im in GR Mi. and when i had requests his songs its as if i was asked for the moon!? the local stations here especailly suck!? i was'nt requesting everyday, maybe 3-4 times a week per staton at best and THEN iv was asked to stop calling ???? how stupid was that !? so i emailed my request in..still nothing?
but the DJs did sympathize with me because they enjoyed adam stuff too and i was told that its up to the prodution manager on what got played & what didnt...itsbeen close to 8 years having to deal with these local stations and iv learned so much more about how radio heads do there thing and im NOT dig'n it at all! these dorks act like they are the Masters of Music but in realality they only know and do as thier told ... im pretty sure their all on the bottom of the totum pole when it comes to playing what we want...,....and they do not research anything!? as a matter of fact some of them look at it as "just another job"... now im not talking bout all DJ's or pro.managers but the ones here just dont get it...to sad for us eh. ohhh im getting all worked up now..lol...i beter hit the hay...g'nite..
wish i knew another way to make a stand ?
its got to be pure hell for you musicians .
im always here for yas though! i hope that helps?
im mis'n you guys live bad!
your all so blessed.
peace

ANDWEKISSED [11/06/09 12:15:32 am]Hey SHOTGUNGIRL ...
I think artists are usually "bigger" in their hometowns ... some you hear over and over and over and don't have to do anything to get the exposure. Then there's the hardworking ones, such as Adam, who continually work extremely hard and seem to have a longer road than others to even get a song released to radio and played on radio. He works continually. I don't think his brain ever stops to be quite honest hahah.
CISN has always been right behind Adam, I've found. I remember when he was first starting out ... then the years that Chris Scheetz would broadcast from Adam's parents house on Christmas Eve. I'm just glad I wasn't a guinea pig for their odd creations of "christmas baking".
I know the past few years he's been touring heavily in the USA promoting his singles out to radio. A lot of radio tours and parking lot events [right Chad] lol. I've been fortunate to see three american shows last year. Two in November in Tampa when he opened for John Anderson, the next day in Fort Meyers with Sugarland and Kellie Pickler and then in December when he headlined his own show at the Club Rodeo in San Jose. This summer he was home a lot more than I've been used to over the past couple years. It was a breath of fresh air for everyone up here I know hahaha. Everyone up here knows who he is. Compared to the shows I've been to in the USA, it's completely opposite. He'll sing some "oldies" that we know up here, they have NO idea down in the states. Seems like we automatically know the words to every song of his. It's kinda neat though, I have to admit, to be able to watch him all over again and be able to call him "ours". To be able to call them Canadian.
He's a household name so-to-speak up here and I know we all want that for him in the USA as well. Hard work will pay off .. it takes forever in some cases. But even to get a single or two on radio ... that's a lot. Seems like cracking into the USA Market is harder than being up here at home. There's some big names up here who in the USA have no idea who they are. Look at Emerson Drive as an example .. they go from having a #1 song to a single that went completely opposite :-( Adam and his band are definitely one of the most hard working groups of guys from Graham and Nick on the sound to the guys behind him playing Mark, Chad, Robin, Dustin and David to Barry and Lawrence behind, behind the scenes. If you ever get to meet any of 'em ... they're some of the best friends anyone could ask for ;-) They know what it takes to get where they want and I have never met a group of more deserving guys, ever.
His first 'real' show back home was this past July when he was in Calgary for the Stampede. The place was packed. A couple weeks later it was ED FEST in Edmonton [you might have heard him mention me in the middle of his song haha] and then the next day I flew to Ontario to see him open for Terri Clark in Fergus and Mattawa. Saw him in August at the BarnBurner as well. I probably saw you, somewhere hhaha. Even in Edmonton for that matter lol. At times you could almost hear the crowd singing louder than Adam. That's how much he's supported up here. I can't wait for him to be able to experience that down in the states too. I'm pretty positive it'll happen. Adam has such a huge fan base up here that's been behind him continually since the day he started out back when Horseshoes came out. He's starting to get the down in the states too, from what I've been able to see.
All we can do is keep requesting his songs on the radio stations and videos on CMT and GAC. I've emailed a few stations in the USA .. it's a hard road, I'm sure .... but definitely worth it in the end. One day it'll pay off, even more than it has now. When it does, we'll be there behind 'em all ... still ;-)
- Christina
KNICKMONITORS [11/12/09 8:44:47 pm]Wow!
